Strategic Plan
We are pleased to present
AFECA 2012-2017 Strategic Plan. The plan incorporates a continuous five 5yr set
of strategic objectives that constitutes the majority of AFECA’s overall
program activities and efforts.
Introduction
The African
Federation of Electrical Contractors Association (AFECA) is a body which will
bring together African Nations' Electrical Associations, Electricity
Authorities, Energy Ministries and organizations responsible for
the respective Electricity/Energy Industry to share ideas, discuss
issues and policies, and share best practices in the Electricity Industry /
Energy Industry in African countries. It will provide a continuous forum and
platform to improve the Electricity / Energy industry in Africa
in a collective way to solve the problems and issues facing the Electricity /
Energy industry in African countries. It will be similar to other regional
electricity federations already existing on other continents.
Mission
To bring together African
Electrical Contracting industries and associations and provide a continuous
forum of sharing ideas and best practices in the electrical industry and energy
sector in Africa.
Vision
AFECA’s is based on the
following objectives;
1. To provide a forum of sharing ideas and discuss issues and challenges
facing the electrical contracting industry and energy sectors in Africa.
2. To provide a forum through which each member may voice their ideas and
concerns that are of mutual concern to all members in Africa.
3. To encourage business opportunities available to electrical
contractors in Africa based on mutual
understanding, cooperation and benefit.
4. To promote private and government acceptance of the need to improve
the standards of the electrical construction industry which will benefit the
public and governments in Africa.
5. To support the sound development of the electrical construction
industry through sharing best practices, evidence-based strategies, mutual
cooperation, understanding and benefit among its members in Africa.
6. To establish links with relevant international organizations,
international electrical institutions and maintain friendly relations between
its members, other regional electrical federations worldwide and all other
branches of the electrical construction industry.
7. To disseminate among the members, and assist them in the use of, the
latest information obtainable in regard to all matters affecting the electrical
construction industry.
8. To provide a collective voice to its members through which to express
their problems and organize programs and events.
Key Strategic areas of focus are;

Support and
promote initiatives to form new national electrical associations in Africa and promote interaction between members.

Promote and sensitize
African Energy Ministries, Energy Authorities and the Private Sector about the relevance
and need for a Electrical Contracting Federation in Africa.

Organize
Conferences, Workshop and Seminars.

Develop Programs
and Services that benefit members.

Build the
Institutional Capacity of AFECA.

Promote the
electrical contracting industry reform in Africa.

Develop and
sustain strategic relationships.

Encourage high
standards of electrical contracting and Safety in Africa.

Form a planning
system for the electrical contracting industry and energy sectors in Africa.

Provide a forum
of sharing of ideas and discuss challenges facing the electrical contracting
industry and energy sector in Africa.
AFECA requires leadership on
these important strategies in order to accomplish our mission of improving the
electrical contracting industry and energy sector that will allow our members
to provide high quality services in African countries.
Funding
Adequate funding will be a
key factor that will enable AFECA to achieve its goals.

funding for programs, events, and services of AFECA.

Ensure financial
Accountability.
Establish Strategic Relationships
To position AFECA to
represent its members effectively and through the most efficient use of
resources, it is critical that strategic alliance be established with
organizations that share common purposes and agendas.

AFECA must commit to develop
strategic partnership with relevant organizations to advance the electrical
industry, systems and polices. AFECA will work with all partners who share our
goals and will work hard to identify potential partners with common goals.
Membership
Members will include;
National Electrical
Contractors Associations, National Energy Ministries and Directorates, National
Electrical Authorities, Electricity and Energy Service Organizations, National Energy
Ministries, Energy Bureaus, Individual Electrical Companies, Corporate
Companies, Telecommunication companies, Electrical Manufacturers, Environmental
Organizations, Climate Change organizations, Consultants and others.
Events
Conferences, workshops,
seminars and training courses will be organized accordingly.
Publications
AFECA will support and
enhance exchange of best practices in the electrical contracting industry and
energy sectors through its journals, and electronic media. AFECA will encourage
the exchange of ideas among stakeholders and the entire electrical contracting
industry in Africa.
